Moonshine
Moonshine was, and is, our bravest rat. She was tiny when she arrived and, I suspect, only four weeks old, which is, in my opinion, too young. But in spite of this she knew no fear, and thrived. Admittedly, she did poo on Tabitha rather a lot to begin with, but one feels this may be a more telling animadversion on Tabitha than it is on Moonshine.
Moonshine has never hidden. She may cuddle down in a secluded spot after an exhausting marathon of exploring, but she never hides. Right from the off she explored. Over, under and up. How many times, as a baby, did we rescue her from the top of the French curtains? Good at climbing, rats find descent more problematic. It can at best be described as a controlled slide, at worst… they fall. To save Moonshine from disaster the curtains had to eventually be tied in knots, well off the floor.
Fudge and Coco are sisters, but Moonshine, although weaned with them, was from a different litter. She has always had something of the loner about her. Whether this is by nature or circumstance, it would be hard to determine. Of all the rats, her personality has never changed, she’s a go-getter, and spares us the odd look only if we are on her adventuring agenda!
